Classroom Presentations
At a faculty member’s request, a Student Services advisor can visit your classroom and give a brief presentation on the resources available through Career Services. To request a career services presentation, contact Student Services.
Advisors also offer a service, called Don’t Cancel That Class, to act as a substitute for any class session you might otherwise need to cancel. During these sessions, advisors would engage your students in more focused career exploration or job preparation activities. To determine advisors’ availability to substitute, or to request a specific “Don’t Cancel That Class” presentation, please fill out the request form here: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/yQDg25ZCPj
Assessments
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) can reveal your personal work style, preferences, and motivations. You can use the language of the results to describe your unique personality and strengths.
The Strong Interest Inventory (Strong) offers insights about your personal interests and how those align with people working happily in various careers. You’ll get descriptions of your preferred working, learning, and leading styles, along with a comparison of your interests to a large sample of workers who are satisfied in their jobs.
These assessments are FREE for students, faculty, and staff. They are also available to community members for a small cost.
Writing Recommendation Letters
Faculty members are the best sources of recommendation letters for students and recent graduates. Faculty can attest to students’ abilities, competencies, work ethic, attitude, and many other traits that employers may be seeking. Career Services offers recommendations and resources if you would like assistance writing recommendation letters. Please allow a minimum of two days for a thorough response to specific requests.
