LOS ALAMOS, N.M. (Nov. 11, 2024) Seventy-three percent of Los Alamos County voters who cast ballots in the November election said yes to the UNM-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) Bonds.

The advisory board for The University of New Mexico Los Alamos Branch (UNM-LA) Community College District asked voters to decide on $3 million of general obligation bonds for campus improvement projects. The state will match the county’s $3 million in support with another $9 million, providing a total of $12 million towards UNM-LA capital improvement projects.

We are deeply grateful to the community for their support, which has provided us with the resources needed to continue improving and modernizing our aging infrastructure,” UNM-LA Chancellor Mike Holtzclaw said.

County voters who cast ballots also approved Bond 3, which allocates more than $229 million to New Mexico public colleges, universities and specialty schools. The bond passed with 66% approval by the county and state, and $1 million of the funds will be directed to UNM-LA for planning, constructing, renovating and equipping campus facilities and infrastructure.
