UNM-Los Alamos Offers New Mexico’s First Broadband-5G Certificate

LOS ALAMOS, N.M. (Aug. 14, 2024) — UNM-Los Alamos (UNM-LA), in partnership with the Wireless Infrastructure Association, is excited to announce an innovative Broadband-5G Certificate program, New Mexico’s first comprehensive workforce training program in broadband and 5G. This three-semester program not only equips students with essential skills but also offers unique opportunities for hands-on training, paid internships and national apprenticeships for wireless and fiber optic careers.

The certificate provides guided pathways in preparation for UNM-LA's Bachelor of Science or Associate of Science in Mechanical Engineering, engineering technology and other STEM fields.

Highlights of the program include courses in algebra, trigonometry, circuit analysis, physics and hands-on learning labs, along with specialized modules on wireless communication systems.

With a stackable certificate, stackable skills, college credit and work experience, the UNM-LA Broadband-5G Certificate program is your key to a rewarding career in telecommunications.
