January 30, 2019 - Dr. Sharon Hurley
UNM-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) participated in UNM Day at the State Legislature. The event provided opportunities for UNM Main and Branch Campuses to highlight campus organizations, specific degree programs and alumni through posters, printed media and personal interactions. Visitors to the event included State Legislators and other government officials, UNM President Garnett Stokes, UNM branch campus Chief Executive Officers, college students, elementary/middle school students, high school students and parents.
UNM-LA instructors Art Nichols and Melanie Colgan were present to promote the Information Technology Cybersecurity Program and the Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate program. Nichols displayed information on Encrypted Steganography and Watermarking. UNM-LA Recruiter, Melissa Torres, was also present to provide recruitment materials and answer questions regarding degree programs, applying to the University, and attending classes at UNM-LA.
UNM-LA Dean of Instruction, Dr. Sharon Hurley, participated in the event by collaborating with a UNM Associate Provost and Deans from the branch campuses to create Student Success profiles from around the state. These profiles featured one alumni from each branch campus who completed degrees at main campus and returned to work in their communities.
UNM-LA alumna Jennifer Jung, was selected for the UNM-LA profile. Jung graduated with an Associate of Arts in Pre-business from UNM-LA, transferred to main campus Anderson School of Management and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
