Early Childhood Education

If you’re the type of person who inspires others and likes to make a positive impact, education is a great career choice.

About the Program

This degree program is designed so that upon completion, students are prepared for work as an Educational Assistant or for transfer into a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. At UNM, Elementary Education students are required to complete a 24 credit hour concentration-teaching field and 15 credit hours in the Pre-Professional sequence. Additionally, state licensure examinations are part of this application process. See your advisor for detailed information. It is the student’s responsibility to contact his/her education advisor at the four- year institution of his or her choice before registering for courses in the degree program.
