Call To Order: Anne Jarrett called the meeting to order at 1:32 p.m.

Meeting Agenda Items

Anne reviewed the Bylaws Statement of Purpose and offered her assistance in answering questions or information requests.

 

Chancellor: Mike gave an update including:

  • Executive Committee is reviewing the Strategic Plan and will have revisions to share with the campus community in November.

  • A contract with Fiscal Shared Services (FSS) will be supporting the Business Office while they are short-staffed. Deliveries to campus will be accepted Monday – Thursday. Neil Stoddard and Fernando should be contacted when large deliveries are on campus. Yu, Heather and Stephanie should be contacted for deliveries. Use Teams to contact staff members. Mike will send out information about who to contact regarding deliveries.

  • Senior Tortas will take over the contract to offer food in Building 2 and are hoping to open in January 2026. There are food trucks near the front of campus.

  • A/V equipment and acoustics are being updated in Building 2 and Building 6.

  • Construction for the entryway and steps and ramp is ongoing and is anticipated to be completed by December 2025. The courtyard will be done in phases beginning late in Fall 2025. Summer 2026 classes will not be offered in face-to-face format to accommodate repaving of the back parking lot, which belongs to the Los Alamos school system.

  • There will be intermittent IT outages the week of October 20 beginning Wednesday, October 22 to replace switches and other items.

 

 Academic Affairs: Brent gave an update including:

  • Working with UNM to support the PharmD program with our students being able to apply for early admission that can reduce the degree time by up to 1 year.

  • An MOU will be signed with UNM to support community education.

  • Hiring: UNM-LA is in the process of hiring a Community Education Program Manager, two student workers, and faculty members

  • Spring schedule is live on the UNM-LA website, thanks to all who helped to put the program together

Student Services: Danielle gave an update including:

  • More extensive enrollment information is not yet available. Headcount and student credit hours are up from Fall 2024, branch-only headcount is down from Fall 2024.

  • UNM-LA is continuing to coordinate with CCA. Coco and Grace attended Advising Day sponsored by CCA.

  • Hiring: Senior Enrollment Manager

 

Career Series: Brittany is partnering with LAHS to bring in a variety of career speakers and discuss pathways to a career.

 

Communications: Anne gave an update for Beth by reminding the group of the Anton Treuer events on 11/12, the 45th Anniversary Celebration on 12/4, and that the new website is still in development.

 

HR: Sascha gave an update including: Ingrid should be coming soon to help Danielle (senior enrollment manager) , the Business Operations position is going through Main Campus to start the process, a Spring in-service day will be planned in the near future.

 

Fundraising: Karen gave an update including: the Title V grant $250,000 match goal was met, and she is working on upcoming fundraising events and meetings. Several future “My Favorite Lecture” events will take place, meetings with LANL about engineering programs, and a November meeting of 30-40 local and regional companies about workforce development.

 

Title V Grant: Anne gave an update including:

  • The Business Scholar Luncheon was held on 10/9 with largest attendance of 42 people and the holiday event will be held on 12/10 and everyone is invited to attend.

  • The Title V grant will be discontinued with no new grant awards. UNM-LA has a no cost extension extending through September 2026.

 

Retention Subcommittee: Grace gave an update including: there are direct links to resources and tools accessible in Canvas and everyone is encouraged to participate as a member of the committee, especially Faculty. Brent attended the meeting and has an open invitation to participate in every meeting. A discussion about textbook purchases included some updates from Yu Song and Brent.

 

Bookstore: Yu explained that UNM-LA bookstore is currently separate from Main Campus and Stephanie is working to coordinate efforts with them on ebooks. Brent shared the UNM-LA will be using the Main Campus bookstore beginning in Summer 2026.

 

Online Activities: Anne shared that Kevin had no updates.

 

Communications Working group: Anne shared that the group has not met recently, there will be a meeting before next month’s College Counicl meeting and everyone is encouraged to participate in the working group.
