Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical engineers design and develop many of the products, systems, and technologies that move everyday life. Mechanical engineers apply mathematics, physics, chemistry, and other sciences, together with computers, instrumentation, and other tools to create a wide range of hardware, software, and systems.

The program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.

The program is ran in partnership with the UNM School of Engineering in Albuquerque.

Experiential Learning Outcomes

The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) program at UNM-LA provides graduates with the necessary skills to compete in this rapidly changing discipline. In addition, the BSME provides a solid, scientific foundation for other degrees such as the MBA, MD, DDS, etc.

Career Opportunties & Outcomes

UNM Mechanical Engineering students have the opportunity to work on energy and transportation projects ranging from race cars to high altitude balloon launches and from building efficiency to alternative energy systems.
