Associate of Applied Science in General Studies

The Associate of Applied Science in General Studies is designed to provide students with the opportunity to tailor their specific program of study in a way not available through other UNM-LA programs. A student’s program may reflect either specialized or broad patterns of educational experience, or work-force needs. Most general education courses will articulate to four-year college programs.

Most students will transfer to a four-year degree program after completing the AAS in General Studies.

Students planning to pursue a particular bachelor’s degree should familiarize themselves with the requirements of the transfer institution and select courses accordingly. Students planning to seek a four-year degree in Humanities or Social Sciences should pursue an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts.

Two student biology lab partners work through the lab assignment.
