Taking the Test

Length of the Exam
Multiple-choice ACCUPLACER tests are untimed, so you work at a pace that’s comfortable for you.  Depending on how many exams you are taking, it is advisable to schedule at least one hour, but you may schedule up to three hours at a time.

Scheduling an Exam
You may schedule your own exam date and time using the Testing Center Scheduler. Once you have made the appointment, you will receive a confirmation email with further instructions for what to expect on the day of your exam.

Costs
The first test in each subject is free for UNM-Los Alamos students and prospective students, whereas a repeat placement test within a year costs $15.00, payable by cash, check, or credit card.

Disability Accommodations
If you have a documented disability, please contact the Test Site Manager at 505-662-0332 to discuss available test accommodations.

What to Bring on Test Day
Bring a photo ID and your UNM student ID number (or a Social Security Number or New Mexico high school ID number) to the Testing Center in the Library.

You must wear a mask the entire time that you are in the building, and you must complete a Wellness Check Contact Tracing form.

In addition, you will be asked to surrender your cell phone while you are testing, or you can choose to leave it at home.

Calculators are provided within the online test environment, so you do not need to bring a calculator to the Testing Center.

Remote Testing
Remote testing for other colleges is possible. Please call 505.662.5919 to make arrangements.
