The UNM-Los Alamos Faculty Handbook is a resource for all faculty, both the newly hired and the veterans of many years’ experience. It is available as a web-based document so it can be easily and frequently updated to give faculty the most current information. It also contains links to other documents and information that may be of interest to faculty.
In this handbook one will find answers to most questions regarding UNM-LA policies, procedures, and academic requirements as well as personnel matters including rights, duties, and responsibilities, job descriptions, faculty evaluations, and grievance procedures. It contains downloadable copies of many useful and necessary forms. It details practical support available to faculty in matters of photocopying, copyright, media & library resources, office space, and help from student services. Herein is also found the required syllabus format, explanation of the university grading system, and the attendance policy. It is the responsibility of each faculty member to be familiar with the material in the handbook and refer to it first when questions arise.
In addition to this handbook one may consult the UNM Faculty Handbook for more information pertaining to faculty in the entire UNM system.
If you have an update to report or suggestions to make regarding any aspect of the handbook, please send them to The Office of Instruction.
