Information Technology

About the Program

This program is designed to develop skills that will assist a student in gaining entry level employment in an information technology field such as computer security technician, technical support, and network administration.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 64 credit hours with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5. At least 15 of these 64 credit hours must be credit courses taken at a UNM campus.
  • Information technology with cybersecurity emphasis component courses must be completed with a minimum grade of C or better. All other courses below used for this degree must be completed with a grade of C- or better.

Writing and Speaking (9 credit hours)

  • ENGL 101: Composition I: Exposition (3)
  • ENGL 119: Technical Communications (3) (ENGL 219 can substitute)
  • C&J 130: Public Speaking (3)

Lab Science (4 credit hours)

  • PHYC 102 and 102L : Introduction to Physics and Physics Laboratory (PHYC 160 and PHYC 160L can substitute)

Mathematics (3 credit hours)

  • MATH 150: Pre-Calculus Mathematics (MATH 162 can substitute)

Fine Arts, Foreign Language, Humanities and Social Science (3 credit hours)

  • any applicable course from the above UNM Core Curriculum categories not applied elsewhere for this degree
