Los Alamos, NM — August 23, 2023 — The New Mexico Small Business Development Center at Los Alamos (NMSBDC) and UNM-Los Alamos' PASE Title V Grant jointly hosted a remarkable session as part of their ongoing Business Scholar Luncheon Series. Titled "How to Work with the Film Industry," the event was a great success, drawing a diverse audience of over 25 local business owners and community members to the SALA Event Center where the luncheon was held.

This engaging luncheon provided attendees with essential insights into the process of registering their businesses as qualified vendors within New Mexico's flourishing film industry. Participants were guided through the necessary steps through NM Taxation and Revenue, as well as Film New Mexico. The session illuminated the avenues through which local enterprises can become an integral part of the state's thriving film sector.

Additionally, a presentation was delivered on the topic of posting jobs through New Mexico Workforce Solutions, empowering attendees with practical knowledge on optimizing their recruitment efforts within the local community.

As the Business Scholar Luncheon Series continues to empower local businesses and entrepreneurs, the concluding event of the series promises to be equally enlightening. Scheduled for November 15, the upcoming luncheon titled "An Intellectual Property Summit" is set to be a highlight. This event will feature engaging presentations from the US Patent and Trademark Office, and the NM Technical Commercialization Assistance Office, followed by a Q&A session.

"We are excited about the incredible engagement we witnessed during the 'How to Work with the Film Industry' luncheon and are thrilled to bring more valuable insights to our community," said Sandy Jones, Director of the New Mexico Small Business Development Center at Los Alamos and series co-host. "Our commitment to fostering growth and collaboration among local businesses remains unwavering, and we look forward to welcoming participants to the upcoming 'An Intellectual Property Summit'."
