Staff: Facilities Coordinator

The person in this peosition must be available to work on an on -call basis as needed for events. Additional Conditions and Physical Effort: Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
The person in this position:

  • Monitors, maintains, and performs standard repairs to building electrical facilities and systems, such as tubes, fixtures, switches, photo cells, and outlets; assists licensed electricians with non-technical repairs as appropriate.
  • Monitors performance of heating, ventilation, and cooling systems for the facility; performs standard repair/replacement of components, as appropriate, and non-technical maintenance tasks such as cleaning of heating and cooling fan coil units and adjustment of system controls.
  • Monitors and performs non-technical maintenance of plumbing systems, to include standard repair of leaking fixtures, cleaning obstructed waste lines, installing water coolers, and/or performing non-technical modifications to plumbing and water supply systems; assists licensed plumbers, as appropriate.
  • Arranges space, exhibits, guest accommodations, tours, banquets, receptions, and other applicable conference activities
  • Performs carpentry maintenance tasks including routine sheetrock/drywall installation and/or repair, window replacement, cabinet and countertop replacement, painting and texturing, and door and hardware installation; paints interior and exterior finishes, as appropriate.
  • May perform general maintenance, custodial, and trash removal tasks.
  • Performs snow removal, as required.

Staff: Student Success Specialist

UNM-Los Alamos is seeking a Student Success Specialist.  This position provides academic and career advisement and support services related to student academic success and retention.  The position:

  • Develops and implements recruitment programs and attends recruitment events
  • Advises and assists students in the development of career and academic plans and class schedules
  • Analyzes student records and responds to inquiries to facilitate the entry (admissions) and exit (transfer, graduation) from the University
  • Assists in the resolution of individual academic problems, resolves and refers issues that affect academic progress
  • Advises on academic program updates and changes.
  • Prepares and conducts activities and workshops to promote success strategies for faculty and students.
  • May support student success by coordinating internship programs, facilitating orientations, student activities, and advising student programs such as the PTK honor society, student government, etc.

Staff: On-call Instructional Aide for EMT Basic

On-call Instructional Aide for EMT Basic. Under direct supervision, provides routine on-call assistance to one or more qualified instructors in the day-to-day performance of classroom and associated activities.
The person in this position:
1.      Under detailed instruction from the instructor, assists in facilitating classroom activities carried out by students.
2.      Sets up and monitors usage of classroom equipment and supplies; ensures that equipment and supplies are returned to storage after use.
3.      Presents subject matter , under the guidance of a teacher, utilizing a variety of methods including stories, discussions, and role playing
4.      Communicates with, assists, and answers questions from students as required on routine day-to-day classroom issues.
5.      Practices appropriate safety and injury prevention methods and procedures.
