Yoga: Advanced Beginner, Hatha Yoga in the Iyengar Tradition, Session 1

Intermediate level yoga in the Iyengar style. Previous yoga is helpful. Students should be in good physical health, but modifications will be made for injury or disability. There will be liberal use of props to help students bring their body into alignment dictated by the poses. All ages welcome.

Students should wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat and a cotton yoga blanket.

Kundalini Yoga

Also offered as credit PENP 193 303

Release tension and stress from body and mind using Kundalini yoga: breath, posture, and mediation. Learn techniques to relax and uplift your spirit.

(2 cr. hr.) Students should wear comfortable clothing. No Class Mar 13.

Strength and Conditioning

Also offered as credit PENP 193 section 300

Students will learn a variety of exercises that will involve hand weights and resistance bands for a full body workout. Body weight exercises will also be incorporated into the workout. Various types of different strength training programs will be introduced throughout the semester.  

(1 cr. hr.) Students should wear comfortable clothing and bring a notebook to class.

Yoga: Beginner Hatha Yoga in the Iyengar Tradition, Session 1

Beginning level yoga in the Iyengar style. Suitable for all levels and ages. No previous yoga experience necessary. The class will focus on flexibility, strength and awareness of the mind, body, breath connection while moving into and out of postures.

Students should wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat and a cotton yoga blanket.

Pilates

Also offered as credit PENP 155 300

Instruction in the movements to increase balance, core fitness and cardio respiratory endurance. The class will also teach some classical beginning mat exercises. Pilates will help you do whatever you do better, allowing you to build long, lean muscles for the “inside out.” Also offered as credit PENP 155 – section 300 (1 cr.hr.) Bring a mat and wear comfortable clothing. No Class Mar 15.
